About this project

Going from a very dark wall color to a light one is one of the harder repaints: dark pigment shows through light paint unless it gets a primer or an extra coat, and every cut line against white trim has to be redone cleanly. In this home the dining room, living room and primary bedroom had been painted a deep charcoal and near-black. We covered the dark color with a light greige, keeping the white trim, crown and built-ins crisp.

Scope of work

  • Dining room, living room and primary bedroom repainted
  • Dark charcoal and near-black walls covered to a light greige
  • White trim and built-ins protected and kept
