Locally Owned. Detail-Driven.
Paintcrafters has painted homes across the Twin Cities west metro since 2015. We are small on purpose: the owner is on every job, and we take on a limited number of projects at a time.
Meet Kevin Spahn
Kevin Spahn has spent most of his working life in the painting trade. He painted for other companies for years before founding Paintcrafters in 2015, and he has run it for 11 years since — estimating, prepping and painting homes across Wayzata, Minnetonka, Plymouth, Orono and the rest of the west metro.
The company grew around one kind of work: detailed interior painting in lived-in homes, where the prep matters as much as the paint. That led to the work we are best known for — converting the golden oak trim, doors and cabinets that fill so many 1990s Twin Cities homes into clean, durable painted enamel.
Kevin also builds software for painting contractors, including Painter's Log, the job-management system Paintcrafters runs on. The same attention to process shows up on the jobsite: every estimate lists the surfaces and products, and every project ends with a walkthrough.

Specialists in Enameling Golden Oak
Golden oak millwork was the standard trim package in Twin Cities homes built from the late 1980s through the early 2000s. We have converted it to painted enamel in homes across the west metro — trim, doors, stair parts, built-ins and kitchen cabinets — using a shellac primer to lock in the oak's tannins and a hard urethane-modified trim enamel for the finish.
Commitment to the Craft
The owner is on every jobsite. You will not meet a salesperson and then a crew you have never seen. The person who walks your project is on site while it gets done.
Quality over volume. We take on a limited number of projects so each gets the attention it needs, and we schedule so rooms are usable at the end of each day.
Named products and a written scope. Our estimates list the rooms, the surfaces and the products — Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane on trim and cabinets, Duration matte on walls, shellac primer on oak — so you can compare apples to apples.
Protection and cleanliness. Floors covered edge to edge, furniture wrapped, and Zipwall dust barriers wherever we sand or spray. Read more about how we work.

“This team was amazing! Incredibly happy with the quality of work and attention to detail. They really went above and beyond.”
“Kevin’s work ethic and Work product are head and shoulders above anyone in his field. He was reliable, trustworthy and a perfectionist. Just what you want in a painter! He also did minor repair work above and beyond the scope of the necessary painting. Hire Kevin...you won’t be sorry!”
“Very happy with Paintcrafters. The owner assured me that he would have the work completed before Thanksgiving and he did. The paint job was beautiful and really brightened up my home. I noticed a minor problem that needed to be touched up after the job was completed and Kevin Spahn assured me that he would take care of it and he did so. I value his high quality work, but I value his integrity even more.”
